The festival has been held yearly since 1953 as a way to promote tourism. The event has since grown into an almost two-month-long presentation of a wide variety of music featuring large orchestras, chamber groups, jazz, art shows, dance, photographic exhibits.
Ravello is a charming town on the Amalfi Coast placed in a wonderful position at 365 meters above the sea level. Since its origin, it fascinated “rich men and industrious merchants” (as mentioned in the forth novel of the second day of the famous Decameron of Giovanni Boccaccio).
